There is so much to see and do at The Novi Home Show! While browsing through various exhibits and consulting with professionals, be sure to spend some time at these special exhibits and seminars.

Dr. Lori

Dr. Lori, the internationally known celebrity antiques appraiser on the History channel’s hit TV show The Curse of Oak Island will reveal antiquing tips, how to spot a bargain and appraise audience collectables on the Inspiration Stage. First appraisal is free, additional appraisals $25 each.

American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)-Michigan

Ask the designer

Stymied on a styling problem in your home? Bring your dilemma and inspiration in any form (smartphone, pages from a magazine, swatch of fabric) to “Ask the Designer” at the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)-Michigan booth and they will gladly give you suggestions and advice on your home decorating project.

Find new design ideas

This year, the designers have fashioned three spaces showcasing a traditional sitting room with customized draperies, a funky “tween” space and a dining area complete with a wine wall.

Color is all around and is a powerful tool that can unify a room and completely alter one’s experience within a space by how it affects mood and perception of the size of the space. Linda Shears, ASID, invites you to explore color at a deeper level in her presentation on the psychology of color. She will also discuss 2017 color trends for interiors.

Interior Design 101: Secrets from the professionals
As our lives change, our living environment should adjust and change to support our lifestyles. This seminar by Dwane Adle, ASID AIA, will offer simple secrets and tips to transform your living space to reflect your style and personality, avoid common decorating mistakes, planning and budgeting and give advice on how to work with a professional interior designer.

NEW for 2017/ Drapery: How to dress a naked window
What do you say to a naked window? This seminar by Gayle McNally, Allied ASID, will discuss six points to designing a successful window treatment.

Kitchen Design: How to avoid creating a useless space
A kitchen makeover can add value to your home and make your time within its space more enjoyable and efficient. The kitchen is the heart of the home, the center of activity and it can be a challenge to create a space that works for everyone. Debra Christy, Allied ASID, will discuss common mistakes in kitchen design and how to avoid them.

With extensive, interactive displays including working showerheads, toilets, digital shower systems and other Kohler products, the Kohler mobile showroom—brought to The Novi Home Show by Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showrooms by Etna Supply—is designed to spark creativity for homeowners embarking on a home improvement project or buying a custom home.

Tiny, yet timeless

The trend is still growing, even if the cabins are not. Michigan’s own WoodHaven Log and Lumber is bringing The Thunder Bay cabin—a totally finished and furnished 12’ x 30’ tiny cabin— complete with quarter log siding on the exterior.

Dr. Lori Makes A House Call

Dr. Lori makes a house callAre you sick of looking at the antiques in your house and not knowing how much they are worth, if anything? Before you donate or ditch that old china or oil painting from Great Aunt Edna, consider entering the “Dr. Lori Makes A House Call” appraisal contest, sponsored by The Novi Home Show.

Recently seen on the History channel’s hit show The Curse of Oak Island, Dr. Lori will come to your home and spend an hour appraising your antiques and collectables. Don’t have that many antiques? Grab some friends and have an antique appraisal and appetizer party. You supply the antiques and appetizer, The Novi Home Show will supply the appraiser.

Visit and post a photo of the item you’d like appraised and tell us why you want it appraised and you could win a house call from celebrity antique appraiser Dr. Lori. Winner will be contacted January 24, 2017. Due to Dr. Lori’s Inspiration Stage schedule at The Novi Home Show, winner of the “Dr. Lori Makes A House Call” appraisal contest, sponsored by The Novi Home Show, must be able to host Dr. Lori on Friday, January 27, 2017 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. No other date or time will be available.

Battle of the Bathroom

Example of your tired bathroomWhat do you battle every day in your bathroom? An avocado-colored chipped sink? Rusted-out faucet? The Novi Home Show, in conjunction with Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showrooms by Etna Supply, KDI USA Kitchen and Bath, American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)-Michigan, Faux Couture and the Detroit News Homestyle have teamed together so one lucky reader of the Detroit News Homestyle can win the battle with a bathroom upgrade worth nearly $9,000.

Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showrooms by Etna Supply is giving away a bathroom package including a new toilet, bathroom vanity, sink, faucet and a matching shower/bath faucet, valued at more than $4,700, and KDI USA Kitchen and Bathroom is donating the installation. Members from the American Society of Interior Designers-Michigan will give the winner a consultation on how to best decorate a bathroom to reflect their style and Faux Couture will do a customized painting treatment in the bathroom.

Send a photo and a brief explanation of why your bathroom needs attention to Entries accepted January 6-24, 2017, and the winner will be announced January 27, 2017 in The Detroit News Homestyle. Final winner chosen by Infusion Kitchen and Bathroom Showcase and KDI USA representatives.

The winner of The Novi Home Show-Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showroom 2017 Battle of the Bathroom receives a bathroom upgrade with a retail value of approximately $9,000. Winner of the Battle of the Bathroom will receive a new toilet, vanity and sink, faucets for sink, bathtub and shower from Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showrooms by Etna Supply; installation by KDI USA; decorating consultation by American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)-Michigan and a specialize paint project by Faux Couture.

Entry Details
Entrants may register by sending a photo and brief description of why their bathroom needs attention to No purchase necessary to enter. Contest registration begins January 6, 2017 at 12:00:01 a.m. and ends January 24, 2017 at 11:59:59 p.m. One email entry per household. Entrants must be a citizen or legal resident who reside within the delivery area of The Detroit News and are at least 18 years or older. No employees, relatives or business affiliates of Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showrooms by Etna Supply, KDI USA, ASID-Michigan and Faux Couture (Released Parties) or their dealers may enter this contest.

The Novi Home Show-Infusion Kitchen and Bath Showroom 2017 prize may include a vanity, flooring, sink, toilet, faucets, painting and labor. The winning entrant must sign a “Winner and Publicity Release.” The winning entrant will be responsible for coordination with KDI USA of bathroom toilet, vanity and fixtures delivery and installation scheduling.

Prize winner must accept delivery of prize from sponsor, or as otherwise instructed by sponsor. All other costs related to prize delivery and acceptance is the responsibility of winner including but not limited to federal, state and local taxes. All properly claimed prizes will be awarded. Prizes are nontransferable and no cash redemption or prize substitution allowed, except at sponsor’s sole discretion or as provided herein. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if an advertised prize becomes unavailable.

The winner will be selected on or about January 24, 2017. The winner will be notified on or about January 27, 2017. The winning prize must be redeemed by the winner within six (6) calendar months of the date the winner is notified.
